Tech-ing a leap:A Breakthrough of CRSHS

n November 2024, Caraga Regional Science High School (CRSHS) embarked on a
transformative journey with the creation of its Next Generation Learning Hub formerly known as
Computer Laboratory, a milestone that would redefine the way students engaged with their
education. This vision, once a mere aspiration, came to life through the dedicated efforts of Engr.
Alwin G. Ga, the Computer Lab/ICT Coordinator and his team of colleagues, whose relentless
commitment to educational advancement sparked the initiative. With a keen eye for innovation
and an unwavering desire to empower the future of learning, they undertook the monumental
task of transforming an ordinary classroom into a state-of-the-art learning hub.
Integral to the success of the project was the invaluable support and leadership of Dr.
Maria Ruth R. Edradan, the esteemed Secondary School Principal IV of CRSHS together with the
Assistant School Principal, Myrna Y. Gijapon and Assistant School Head, Dr. Mark Anthony T.
Bangao. Their forward-thinking approach and steadfast belief in the potential of technology to
enhance student learning were pivotal in bringing the vision to fruition. Their guidance and
encouragement set the foundation upon which the hub was built, ensuring that every step taken
aligned with the school’s commitment to excellence.
A crucial aspect of the project’s realization was the generous contribution of the ParentsTeachers Association, led by President Cecilia T. Sembrano. Through their unwavering support,
they facilitated a donation that funded the construction of modern, ergonomically designed
tables, crucial for fostering a 21st-century classroom environment. This thoughtful donation not
only enhanced the aesthetics of the space but also ensured that students could engage in their
lessons with comfort and focus, facilitating a conducive atmosphere for collaborative learning.
Since its inception, the NextGen Learning Hub has become an indispensable resource,
offering students a versatile and dynamic platform for learning. It has catered to their diverse
educational needs—whether for online quizzes, assignments, research or even exams in some
subjects that has paved a way for a paperless assessment. The hub’s integration of digital tools
has allowed students to enhance their learning experience, particularly through the use of Khan
Academy for Mathematics, Science, and English, where they can learn at their own pace and
access a multitudinous number of resources.

The success of the learning hub is not merely in the technology it offers but in the way it
has redefined the educational landscape at CRSHS. It has empowered students, providing them
with the tools they need to succeed in the digital age. What began as an innovative concept is
now a thriving, essential part of the school’s academic ecosystem, offering endless possibilities
for personalized, self-directed learning.
In its short time of transformation, the Next Generation Learning Hub at Caraga Regional
Science High School has proven to be a remarkable success, a testament to the power of
collaboration, innovation, and community support. It stands as a beacon of progress, lighting the
way for future generations of students to not only meet the challenges of the modern world but
to thrive within them. The space was transformed—a bright, air-conditioned tech-filled room
with 85 laptops, smart TVs, and tablets used for any specialized educational software.
Word spread, and the hub became an essential part of school life. Engagement surged,
academic performance soared, and the once-quiet room became a bustling learning center. By
the end of the year, CRSHS Learning Hub wasn’t just a local success—it became a beacon of
innovation for nearby schools to follow
